2014 Schedule Locked and Loaded
Well, after the “false start” I mentioned on my previous post, which turned into several weeks of flu and flu recovery, it’s almost time to race! The only good thing about the flu is that it can leave you without the winter gain. The downside of course, is that you end up weak as a kitten and out of shape to boot. Anyways, I am finally a few weeks into solid training and feeling more like myself. 🙂
2014 almost seemed to plan itself, as so many races required registering very early on. I’m excited to tackle the list below. And I won’t be alone either.. all these races have super fun company whether it’s my “hometown” 70.3 at FL with the folks, and/or large groups from Energy Lab/Atlanta Tri Club, etc.
Although I originally was thinking about IRONMAN Texas, I waffled and it sold out in the meantime. I am taking a break from a spring IRONMAN this year, so I will have more space in the spring (which I really need after the sick weeks) to do work without worrying about a looming deadline.
- February- Polar Bear 5k (that’s tomorrow, yikes!) and Charles Harris 10k
- March- Publix Half Marathon
- April- Florida 70.3
- May- DOG JOG (Sadie and Bailey’s “A” Race.. see above for an action shot from last year)
- June- Raleigh 70.3, Chatt Olympic (maybe)
- July- Challenge Roth
- September- IRONMAN 70.3 World Champs Mont-Tremblant, IRONMAN Chattanooga
That actually looks a little bit spare if you ignore the fact that there are a couple of iron distance races and several halfs. Undoubtedly, I’ll throw in a few sprints here or there, depending on dates and if there is a good group targeting them.
I’m feeling a little less prepared in some ways than at this time during previous years, but more confident in other ways. Only a few short weeks till the first 70.3 of the year!
