Atlanta Dog Jog

The week after John Tanner it was time for the event of the year, the Atlanta Dog Jog. I have to say this is one of the most fun races to me, and this year did not disappoint. Originally John was not slated to attend, so it was just Sadie and I.

He showed up with Bailey as a surprise, though, and then it was on. Though Sadie is now ten and Bailey is seven, they still act and are as active as always so it is hard to for me to think of them as ‘older ladies.’ So I was continuously surprised when people would comment on their white faces or call them seniors! If you’ve ever spent five minutes with Bailey, you know what I mean.

Anyways, this year was fantastic. They moved it to a better venue. Sadly, I was still under duress from my systemic infection, root canal, abx, and the latest drama, an allergic reaction to the abx. So I was pretty sure that Sadie and I wouldn’t be turning in any PBs. That didn’t bother me however, because it might actually bode well for the many miles of additional running I had on tap later that evening!

I always wonder if she will slow down, but Sadie ran as enthusiastically as always, though she got thrown off a bit because it was an out and back and after she was pretty much outfront she only saw dogs going the other way. That made her want to stop running fast and turn around. A few stops for this or that later, sis Bailey and John had caught up to us (they paced better) and we ran into the finish with Sadie again the defending champ. #proudmama

To watch her run a race is pure joy! When the one mile race went off before us, she was freaking out basically and howling trying to start running and catch everyone. She just knows what to do! We had such a fun time with our other friends and dogs and I have to say, Sadie won some serious schwag this year!
