5th Annual Beer Mile Classic Race Report

This was another great event that definitely snuck up on me this year! Again Rob Schuler organized and graciously allowed all proceeds to be donated to Lifeline Animal Clinic. Last year, I breezed through the relay and John and I had a great joint time of 6:24. That gave me confidence, perhaps, too much going into the whole thing. Last year I practice chugging one beer on two different occasions so I could get used to the technique. This year I didn’t practice at all and my stomach is a little shrunken lately I think too from trying to maintain …

IRONMAN Florida 2015 Race Report

I have been having trouble putting how I feel about this one into words. We had a super fun group and weekend overall. There certainly aspects of the racing that weren’t the best but this race was about more than that. I signed up for this one pretty last minute as an afterthought after John committed to doing the first ever IRONMAN assisted relay with the Kyle Pease Foundation. This weekend was all about that. It was an amazing experience for all the parties involved. My race was a blip on the screen compared to that. In fact, I signed up …

Augusta 70.3 Race Report 2015

I was more excited and more nervous for this race than any race in awhile. I think it’s because it’s the first time this year I felt like I really Could do something breakthrough, and with that possibility that came with what felt like pressure. Pressure of the unknowns, of all the variables that could go wrong, etc. I think my best race this year was Alcatraz or FL 70.3, and those were good precisely because they were coupled with minimal expectations! Since the mid year lull after CDA, I have been trying to focus on the little things. I have …

Unconventional Mantras and Motivation

As the biggest race weekend of the year is upon us, I have spent a lot of time lately talking to people about physical and mental race strategies.  Every first timer receives advice about getting to transition early, not starting out too hard, and managing race nutrition. But most people have some underlying things they think about that tap into their personal motivation and help them give a little extra effort. Here are a few of my favorites mid-race motivations. 1. If all these people can do it, surely I can do it too! This is a really good one …

More Summer Racing and Birthday Fun

I got behind again and missed posting about a lot of the summer fun! There was lots of summer racing fun. Here is a summary of what went down as far as racing and tons of photos below: Tri 2 Beat Cancer Had fun hitting this one for the third year in a row. Unfortunately, did not quite defend the win from the first two years, but had a great workout and fun day out there coming in second oa. Lots of great Atlanta Tri Club and Energy Lab results. Atlanta 20k Relay This was a fun showdown with runningnerds and …

Lake Logan Race Weekend

I had originally planned to do the half aquabike as a workout while cheering on friends and athletes throughout the weekend. Alas, I had the opportunity to help out though when a good friend had a complete battery fail the morning of the race! No problem, I can workout without being in a race surely! We had the very helpful mechanic take out my Di2 battery and duct tape it to the outside of her bike and it worked! Big day cheering on racers some first timers too and all did great!   The organizers at setup were kind enough …
