IRONMAN Chattanooga

What a weekend IM Chattanooga was. Let’s just skip to the end and note that I did not finish the race.. BUT that’s okay. More explanation to follow… This was the biggest weekend for the year between Atlanta Tri Club and Energy Lab, and really for all of Atlanta. It really is a bummer that they apparently will remain on the same day, as it will be very hard to choose where to spectate next year. I may be trying to start out in Augusta, race, and then jump in the car and drive to Chattanooga. Flying would be nice …

Tri to Beat Cancer and 70.3 Worlds

Tri to Beat Cancer This is a race I won last year that I really wanted the chance to do again. It fell on a big IM training week and I had quite the ride the day prior. My splits were not quite as fast as last year, but I was smiling the whole time and very happy to be “racing” again. In the end, it was enough, and I managed to come in first. 70.3 Worlds This race was all about the experience and the company. I really wanted to have fun, not hurt myself, and not get too …

Challenge Roth: The Rest of the Story

I put off and put off writing the rest of this post. Truth is, I don’t want to dwell on what went wrong, I want to move on! The rest of the race was terrible from a performance and body cooperation standpoint. I nearly fell asleep on the bike.. I had no power.. I think I got lapped on the one loop course. 🙂 I had a lot of muscular weakness from my RF procedure several days prior and had trouble holding myself up.. and my head up.. on the bike. Riding up Solar Berg Hill is as cool and …

Challenge Roth: Pre-Race and Swim

Challenge Roth was an amazing event and we took 38 racers from Atlanta Tri Club. I would definitely describe it as the one of those trips of a lifetime! The actual race was a struggle for many reasons. To truly explain I need to start at the beginning! I waffled a bunch of times about doing this race. Indeed after Raleigh, I started asking around to see if I could find someone to do the run portion and switch to a relay. I didn’t find anyone so I considered just planning on doing the swim and bike. Then, the closer …

Peachtree Road Race 2014

I was way more excited about this race than usual. Normally, it is just something I do because I want to build up a year over year streak. Some years I have done it for fun, and some I have tried to race it hard. In the racing it hard scenario, I usually end up disappointed. It is a really hard race and it’s always blazing to boot! This year I decided on a “hybrid” approach. I wanted some costuming but nothing that would interfere with running fast. As I haven’t gotten to race much this year because of injury …

Chattanooga Waterfront Race Report 2014

Pre-Race I had very low expectations for this race so ended up being pleasantly surprised. It definitely took the pressure off! I wasn’t sure how my foot would hold up to running a 10k, and I wasn’t sure how well my RockTape would stay on during the swim. Also, I traditionally have bad luck at this race. In 2011, I had a horrible respiratory infection and ended up dropping out, freaked out by the rattling in my chest and inability to breathe. (Pleurisy.. which for some reason certain people in the club love to tease me about. I think it’s …
