Raleigh 70.3- I did the whole thing!

What a great weekend in Raleigh! We celebrated John’s birthday, hung out with great friends, and got some exercise. 🙂 Hey, I actually did a race too, run and all! Going into this race, the week of I truly thought at times there was only a 15% chance I was going to be able to complete the run safely. I felt like I restrained my plantar fascia and I was hobbling around till Thursday. I ran eight miles once since March. Because of this (and my really light training in April after I was injured) my only stated goal was …

Somewhat Back in Action

Let’s keep this story short. One thing led to another, I had a sudden freak plantar fascia strain on mile 1 of a long run on a completely ordinary day despite no previous problems with that foot ever, and I ended up out of commission throughout April. Regardless, I certainly have not been bored! Between administering, staffing, and sometimes coaching at nearly 40 workouts per week between ATC, Energy Lab, plus our corporate initiative with Turner, and all the other stuff that goes with managing small businesses. Also, I have been coaching a GREAT group of athletes, writing and getting …

Publix Half Marathon 2014 Race Report

What a fun day at Publix Marathon and Half Marathon…. at least after the racing part was over! I wanted to break 1:29:3x which was formerly my PR.. my Publix PR was just under 1:30. Both of those were set in 2012. In 2013, my winter and spring running weren’t so hot after an eight week running hiatus at the end of 2012. Last year, I was cramming for IRONMAN Texas and opted for a century plus brick saturday/Publix Sunday combo in a costume instead of trying to go for a PR. This year, I have been setting some PRs …

Gear and Glimmer 2014

We had a great time at Gear and Glimmer 2014 hanging out with the inspiring athletes of Getting2Tri, and many local athletes and vendors. We were excited that ATC brought home the award for Best Multisport Club/ Organization I was also excited and surprised to win for Best Female Triathlete. Here is what I said “I was surprised and honored to win this award, as there are plenty of folks who can swim faster, bike faster, run faster, and who do more for the community. However, this award definitely inspires me to keep chasing all the fast ladies in town, as well …

Life Hacks (for Lazy Triathletes)

I have never understood the word “life hack” I mean, how first world problem can you get? Buying expensive gadgets and spending tons of time organizing, getting specials apps, etc so you spend slightly less time and energy on tasks later. It just doesn’t make sense to me as someone who is impatient. I’m obsessed with saving time in a practical way, not so I can be cool but so I can spend as little time as possible actually doing unpleasant tasks. So I guess that’s still life hacking but life hacking that actually has a purpose…and isn’t extra work. …
