IRONMAN Florida Swim and Swim Smart

Time for the swim! This year they lined everyone up under signs based on predicted swim time as part of the swimsmart initiative. I lined up next to the 1:00- 1:10  sign (visible above) with John and Rich. I told Rich my plan was to follow his feet, but after watching him dolphin dive under the waves the day prior efficiently, I knew I’d be hard pressed to follow him. Anyways, the thought that I might gave me something else to focus on which minimized the anxiety of such a start. When the cannon went off my prediction, unfortunately, came …

Pre-Race IRONMAN FL 2013

This post is all about the days leading up to IRONMAN Florida 2013, with some thoughts and recommendations for anyone considering Florida 2014. I will get to my race report and what happened on the day eventually, but first I wanted to focus on the positive aspects of the weekend.

1. So many ATC athletes out in full force, both spectating and racing. I will post a picture of the tent people in costumes if I can get one. It was truly priceless. The picture on the bottom is of most of the ATC athletes who raced IM Florida training in Alabama a few weeks ago.
