Atlanta Dog Jog

The week after John Tanner it was time for the event of the year, the Atlanta Dog Jog. I have to say this is one of the most fun races to me, and this year did not disappoint. Originally John was not slated to attend, so it was just Sadie and I.   He showed up with Bailey as a surprise, though, and then it was on. Though Sadie is now ten and Bailey is seven, they still act and are as active as always so it is hard to for me to think of them as ‘older ladies.’ So …

John Tanner Sprint Tri

I love doing this race each year because it’s the start of the Atlanta tri season. I had a great start to the year at Florida 70.3, but a few bumps in the road cropped up after that. Specifically, I ended up with a root canal, infection, minor temp and on antibiotics the week of John Tanner. Nooo!!! Though of course it is a low stakes race I still wanted to do well racing with all my friends. I would generally not recommend racing on antibiotics but it was just Amoxicillin so I figured I would probably be okay but …

Florida 70.3 2015 Race Report

Liked being back at FL 70.3 this year, partly because it’s an excuse to visit my hometown and partly because I just love this race. It’s all the things I like: early in the year, lightly rolling but not too flat, and most importantly HOT! It’s hot before anyone is acclimated but that’s mostly beside the point. Although I feel like it was just the other idea that we brought a huge team down to FL 70.3 2014 and had a most excellent time last year, the trip for me was marred for the face that I had just been injured! …

Morningside Mile Race Report

This event didn’t happen in 2013 so I was very excited to see it’s return. Originally we had posed a challenge to Podium Multisport to field a team of their best 5 guys and gals versus the Atlanta Tri Club guys and gals. Due to everyone’s schedules, this totally didn’t happen. We’ll have to try again next year. We did end up having a solid ATC turnout and some of our people in the front. I had hemmed and hawed over signing up for the ‘elite’ versus the ‘amateur’ division. The cutoff was a 6 minute mile. Though I supposedly …

Tour de Pike + Publix 13.1

Time to start training hard again. As much as the cold winter months seems to proceed slowly, it seems as soon as the weather gets decent time suddenly goes very fast! On a whim I decided to ride the Tour de Pike last weekend. I recruited a few friends. Really the reason I wanted to do this event was because I needed a long solid training ride this weekend but I knew I would be tempted to bail in lieu of running Publix hard and going for  a PR. And my running volume isn’t where it needs to be to …

Chattahoochee Road Runner 5/10k

We had a great time again this year at the Chattahoochee Road Runner 5 and 10k! Lots of Atlanta Tri Club PRs   My hope was to pace Katarina to a sub 19. That is literally the only thing that kept me going. I sort of succeeded running through the chute at 19 flat clock time (and interestingly, 19:01 chip time).  We ended up 2nd/3rd OA and first was only a few seconds ahead.   That’s the second time in two races I haven’t even thought about overall placement in a race. I figured there were other ladies ahead of that. …
