I’m Bethany–coach, author of Courage to Tri, athlete, and twin mom.

Our family of five–husband John, infant twins, and teenage Vizsla–splits time between Atlanta and the North Carolina mountains which we hate leaving.

I believe that life’s most interesting journeys are in the mind, and there’s no buzz like getting lost in creating.

For the last ten years, my wonderful husband John and I raced triathlon around the world while coaching and running Atlanta Tri Club and Energy Lab, our small businesses. In fourteen-ish IRONMAN events, I qualified for Kona twice and had a blast helping hundreds of athletes through our club, coaching service, and corporate programs.

Here are some of the places I’ve been recently:

– from full-time corporate drone to working full-time in triathlon [and racing around the world]

– from thinking triathlon was the be-all-end-all to switching careers yet again

– from thinking I’d never have kids to happy twin mama

– from aspiring writer who gave up after one query to published author who wrote half a million words last year.

In 2017, I took a break–for good reason. After four rounds of IVF (in vitro fertilization), we conceived twin boys. During a high risk pregnancy, I ended up on bed rest, then hospitalized with gestational hypertension–during my book launch.

A few days after that I delivered–three months early. Afterward, I was home for months with medically fragile twin boys.

Don’t worry, they’re doing amazing now!!

During those months I had time to think and write–and realized my message had expanded beyond sport. Now I expound on principles explored in Courage to Tri: mindset barriers, motivation, faith, purpose, and more.

Now I’m ready to share what I’ve learned with you

Fiction WIPs

I write psychological suspense with antihero protagonists and twisty secrets.

I’m a member of WFWA, RWA, and Author’s Guild. Check out a snippet of my latest project.

My first published book, the inspirational how-to COURAGE TO TRI, chronicles lessons learned from a decade of coaching and racing around the world: from Alcatraz and Challenge Roth to finishing IRONMAN Hawaii.

Grab an excerpt–it’s full of practical advice for women seeking their first finish line.

For Writers

I help writers overcome tech challenges to better reach their ideal reader and keep their life-changing message in front of the world.

Many talented writers have amazing books and important messages, yet struggle mightily with mindset barriers and tech ish.

This is something I fought through the hard way, during my ill-timed book launch and beyond.

Here’s how it goes down:

Self Doubt: You wonder if your message is worth the effort. Maybe you’re an introvert who avoids small talk, lives in pajamas, and likes it that way.

Tech Stuff: You probably didn’t get into writing because you’re a marketing or tech expert.

How can writers overcome these challenges and share the message with those who need it most?

I’ve been there.   I cut through the clutter of online tips and focus on simplifying author platform.

Looking for courage to try something new? I’m here for that. Join 1470 others for a mostly-weekly dose of mojo.

Writing Experience

I’m an experienced content marketer and freelance writer with bylines in outlets such as Triathlete Mag, IRONMAN, Women’s Running, Training Peaks and more.

I create copy that engages and converts readers into customers. See examples of previous projects.

Finally, on my personal blog, I share training advice, tech tips, writing inspo, and occasional dog and baby pics.
